FAQ

WHAT IS GAMES DAY?

Games Day is BPC’s biggest event of the year! It’s an opportunity for all members to come together and spend the day playing games such as bean bag toss, basketball shoot outs, relay races, tug of war and more. Members can sign up to enjoy BBQ lunch and dinner, and then end the day dancing the night away or watching a movie outside under the stars!

WHAT IS THE AGENDA FOR THE DAY?

Games Day is a full day event. It kicks off early in the morning when the four teams come together and compete for the best and loudest cheer. The games then begin around 9:00am and end by mid-afternoon.

Morning games are primarily for kids up to Grade 8, but there is a section for babies and toddlers as well. The afternoon has games adults can compete in, so get ready!

Everyone is welcome to take a rest after the games end mid-afternoon and then return for the evening activities that usually go well into the night (dinner, dancing and an outdoor movie for the kids!)

HOW DO TEAMS WORK?

Participants will be divided into four teams. Each team will be assigned a colour and will work together to score points at the various games throughout the day. The team with the most points at the end of it all wins!

WHAT ARE TEAM LEADS AND WHAT IS INVOLVED?

We need four Team Leads to make the Games Day competition a success – think of this as the Baby Point Olympics and the Team Lead as the coach! The Team Lead is a crucial role and includes:

  • Fostering a supportive and cohesive team environment, helping to ensure everyone is cheering on their team, and has an amazing day!
  • Coordinating and communicating with their team members about the various events throughout the day, and encouraging participation.
  • Helping to facilitate that team members are signed up for key events (relay, nail driver, tennis, etc) and that their team colour is represented at all events, so that they have a fair chance to compete for points.
  • Developing the team cheer and ensuring team members know and practice the cheer, so that the team is ready to perform and compete for the Best Team Cheer to kick off Games Day (extra points are awarded for the best cheer!).

DO I NEED TO STAY THE WHOLE DAY IF I AM SIGNED UP FOR A TEAM?

No, you don’t need to stay the entire day, just be sure that you find someone on your team to cover for you if you are signed up for an event.

There is usually a break mid-afternoon once the games have ended. Most people go home and relax, change out of their team colours and return dressed for dinner and ready for the evening activities (dancing and movie – some bring blankets, pillows and pjs for their kids).

Lunch is opt-in, so there is also the opportunity to take a break from the games during that time.

Yes, we want Games Day to be inclusive to everyone, whether you can participate in the games or not. You can purchase meals once they are available on the site.

We also encourage you to drop by and cheer teams on throughout the day!

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?

We can’t make Games Day a success without your help!  Reminder that we can sign volunteer hours for high school students.
